You can have the best product or service in the world but no one will know anything about it unless you get the word out! Marketing is essential even in a down economy and there are different ways you can marketing and advertise your business without breaking the bank.

Whether you are getting your business started or are a marketing professional, here are some tips on getting your product or service line advertised to others:

1) Networking- Networking takes time but can benefit you in the long run. Taking time to go to outside networking events at restaurants, bars, trade shows, etc. is a great way to meet other individuals in a casual or semi-casual setting. Not all of these individuals will have a need for your product or service but may know of someone who does or can provide even further help on growing your business.

2) Social Media- Social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. can be a bit intimidating but can have good rewards. Most social media sites are free to use and can be updated on an easy and regular basis. Businesses have been able to grow by utilizing social media in their marketing plans and if used well, can help your business grow also

3) Make Sure You Have a Presentable and Easy-to-Navigate Web-Site- The Internet has become a world-wide marketplace and how you represent your business on the web can make a world of a difference. If you find trouble navigating through your site, imagine how difficult it is for a prospect or potential customer to search through your site! Having your web-site show up in a Google, Yahoo! or MSN search is also key and having an easy-to-remember URL will only make it easier for people to find your web-site.

4) Consider Writing a Blog- Blog writing does take some time but can build your credibility and brand name. Having a blog also provides additional information and credibility to prospects and guest posting on other sites can increase awareness of your expertise and brand name. There are different ways to blog without having to spend money. Blogger and Wordpress.com are two of the most popular ways to have a blog without spending a monthly fee.

5) Ask for Customer Feedback- Even if you get negative feedback, understanding how your customers feel about your product or service can help you improve your business. Understanding what what wrong in a process, why someone was disappointed or why someone was pleased with something you did can help provide different ideas and areas of growth for your business. Feedback may not always be positive but can help lead to a solution later on.
